The State of Jharkhand came into existence on 15 November 2000 and Jharkhand Academic Council was established by an Act proposed by the Jharkhand State Legislature. It asserted. With the establishment of the JAC, the Bihar Intermediate Education Council Act 1992, the Bihar School Examination Board Act 1952 (adapted as Jharkhand Secondary Examination Board Act 2000) Bihar Sanskrit Education Board Act 1981, and the Bihar Board of Madrasa Education Board Acts, 1981 were repealed. The Jharkhand Academic Council was constituted by the HRD Department Government of Jharkhand Vide Notification No. 2/1-72/06 E.d.n 90 dated 07-06-2007. The Chairman of Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi is Smt. Lakshmi Singh. It was an Act to establish the Jharkhand Academic Council that was enacted by the Jharkhand State Legislature and assented to by the Governor of the State which was known as Jharkhand Academic Council Act.
